This spacious tote backpack is ready to accompany you on all your adventures. Big external pockets keep you organized, while backpack straps let you travel hands-free. This bag is ideal for the office, travel and your everyday commute!
The Process...
Inspiration
Cocooning, wrapping, strapping and structure were the key elements and inspiration of this design. Integrated features and clever construction were essential in designing a bag that seamlessly traveled to the office and beyond.
Sketching
Rapid sketching and ideation narrowed down design aesthetic and features. Exploration of designs and construction uncovered elements that informed the anatiomy of the bag.
Exploration
Rapid prototyping and exploration of straps, knotting and other features uncovered the design language that informed the Day Out collection.
3D Mockups
Creating paper mock-ups and generating 3D designs allow me to express my ideas, solidify proportion and construction and clearly present flushed out concepts to leadership.
Fit
Observing the bag in use as well as structured fit sessions allowed me to tailor elements of the bag to be ideal for the user.
Tech Packing
Technical specification were created to inform the factory of material, trim, construction and execution. The design of the bag panels allowed for a more efficent and sustainable mini marker.
Colour
For launch, a black and white colour palette celebrated the bags shape and construction. Colour refresh for seasonal newness.
Wear Testing
Wear testing provided insight into the bag and was the potential catalyst to adjust the design if appropriate.
